Soft Tissue Laser in Eagan, MN

Oak Cliff Dental Care can now treat many conditions with a soft tissue laser!

The soft tissue laser allows the team at Oak Cliff Dental Care to effectively treat many conditions that have been treated in a more invasive way in the past. The soft tissue laser gives our dental team non-invasive, predictable ways to treat the following conditions and more:

Cold Sores (Herpetic Lesions) - The onset of a cold sore is often described as a “tingle”. When this first symptom is noticed, the area can be treated with a dental laser painlessly, to help reduce the size of the outbreak. It should also increase the time between outbreaks with subsequent treatments.

Canker Sores (Apthous Ulcers) - These small (but sometimes large) painful ulcerations can be induced by certain foods, toothpastes, stress and other factors. Treating these lesions with a dental laser can increase healing time and increase comfort without using any painful medications.

Periodontal Disease - Periodontal disease is a multifactorial disease that is somewhat challenging to treat.  Traditional treatment includes scaling and root planing, also known as “deep cleanings”. These are effective in removing the tartar and build up that contributes to periodontal disease. The laser allows us to remove the bacteria that is not removed with scaling and root planing alone. It also allows us to guide the healing of the tissue afterward increasing the chances of reducing the deep pockets that contribute to persisting bone loss and infection. Controlling periodontal disease also can help control and/or reduce your risk for diabetes, heart disease, and other systemic conditions.

Hypersensitive Teeth - Lasers are able to effectively and comfortably reduce or eliminate sensitivity on teeth that have recession or exposed root surfaces.

Frenums - Lasers can remove frenum attachments that are a concern for esthetics, orthodontics, or speech. Lasers are much more comfortable way to treat these attachments, as it doesn’t require any incisions or sutures and recovery is typically more comfortable.

Over Grown Gum Tissue - Sometimes the gum tissue can become overgrown due to gingivitis, medications, or faulty restorations, and causes non-ideal esthetics and difficulty with hygiene in these areas. The soft tissue laser can recontour this tissue comfortably resulting in a healthier, more beautiful smile.

Cosmetic Treatments - We can contour the gum tissue when placing crowns or veneers to make asymmetrical gums even, improving the esthetic result.
